He was Elected Alderman on Town Council; in election fray hit on head with metal whip handle and rendered senseless. in 1855 at Launceston, Tasmania, Australia. He died on 19 February 1865 at Launceston, Tasmania, Australia, Never fully recovered from the 1855 hit on the head.qvmag.tas.gov.au.
